Andy Kent discusses the growing trend of global consolidation of law firms in the Lexpert article “Law Firm Mergers: The Canadian Rationale.” In his decade as CEO of McMillan, he successfully implemented three all-Canadian mergers that made way for a pan-Canadian firm. He argues that the best way to manage a merger is to find the right partner. “I think every merger required adjustment on all sides, regardless of what the piece of paper says. The reality of living together requires ongoing adjustments – how much adjustment depends on the philosophy of the new firm.”
