Professional Activities
Barbara Sinclair's practice includes all areas of real estate law including representing individuals and corporations in a wide range of business industries in relation to the acquisition, sale, leasing, commercial financing and construction of residential and commercial properties. She has provided advice to a wide variety of institutions in the financial services sector including banks, trust and insurance companies as well as municipalities in relation to secured financing transactions of differing complexities including pension fund investments, syndications, international swaps and derivatives, general security agreements, participation agreements and inter-creditor agreements.
Barbara has been involved in several public private-partnership projects working together with a team of lenders, developers, municipalities, engineers and surveyors, to structure, finance, design, construct and operate various infrastructure projects including recreational facilities, housing projects and water and sewage systems.
She has considerable experience in the area of municipal and planning law including representation of municipal corporations in Ontario in numerous matters including subdivision development work, leasing transactions, zoning matters and financing transactions involving debentures, guarantees and bank loan transactions. She has also represented clients at Ontario Municipal Board Hearings on planning and development matters, and has experience in condominium development work including providing advice on various condominium related matters to condominium corporations, management companies and unit owners.
Barbara's practice also includes acting for private charities and not-for-profit organizations, including academic institutions, religious and cultural organizations, long-term health care institutions and trade and industry organizations.
Barbara's work in the Supreme Court Group includes providing strategic advice and services to clients regarding leave to appeal applications, responses, appeals and motions in regard to matters before the Supreme Court of Canada.
As a member of the firm's Privacy Law Group, Barbara also provides advice to clients on privacy legislation, including the drafting of internal corporate privacy policies and web-site privacy policies.
