Professional Experience
Céline Tessier practices civil and commercial litigation. Her areas of practice and experience focus on breach of contract, namely, commercial leases, franchise agreement, distribution and dealership agreements, latent defect and product liability, realization of securities and fraud, as well as estate disputes.
Céline has acquired extensive trial and appellate experience at all levels of Québec Courts. She has acted in several emergency procedures such as injunctions, including Mareva and Anton Pillar injunctions, as well as seizure before judgment.
Product Liability
Céline has successfully represented several manufacturers defending product liability lawsuits in various fields such as motor vehicle, medical devices, fire and security products and horticultural products.
Real Estate
Over the years, Céline has developed experience in complex real estate litigation. She has successfully represented prestigious commercial property owners and real estate developers in a variety of matters including tenant-landlord disputes, cancellation of real estate transactions and title clearance cases.
Banking
Céline has developed experience in several kinds of foreclosures in banking litigation, including enforcement of security and mortgage foreclosures, recovery of loans and loan guarantees. She has acted for several private lenders as plaintiffs and for several borrowers as defendants. She has also developed experience in commercial fraud, having successfully represented a major bank in proceedings to set aside the fraudulent transactions of the debtor. Her commercial fraud experience has led her to deal with proceedings relating to the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.
Trusts and Estate
Céline has developed extensive experience in trusts and estates litigation involving the validity of trusts, wills and mandates in cases of incapacity, the capacity of the testator as well as disputes relating to the distribution of trust and estate assets. Céline is recognized in the field of trust and estate for her ability to negotiate and act as a mediator.
Environmental Law
In the area of environmental law, Céline has been involved in several trials defending commercial clients from offences relating to the City of Montréal Air and Water Pollution By-laws.
Dispute Resolution
Céline is also recognized for her ability to negotiate and act as mediator in resolving commercial and civil disputes.
Charitable Involvement
Since 2002, Céline has been an active member of the Board of Directors of La Fondation des Auberges du Coeur, an organization raising funds to finance shelters that welcome teenagers in difficulty.
Awards
Céline was awarded the prize of the Young Bar Association in 1993 for excellence in Appeal and Special Proceedings.

Conferences and Presentations
In November of 2004, Céline was a part of the Quebec Bar Association continuing education conference on recent developments in Real Estate Law where she made a presentation which followed publication of an article relating to the protection of commercial tenants against the landlords' mortgage creditors.
She has also given presentations to several clients in the real estate commercial area on the new phenomena of latent defects as a result of the appearance of mould.
In June of 2009, Céline was a guest-speaker at The Canadian Institute Advanced Conference on Commercial Leases where she gave a speech on the role of safeguard orders during Court proceedings and pending final judgments, as well as the application of ipso facto clauses included in commercial leases.
