Professional Experience Geoff is an associate in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group. He is developing a broad civil and commercial litigation practice, with experience in product liability defence, class actions, franchise litigation, insolvency and restructuring, shareholder disputes, complex contractual disputes, employment litigation and environmental litigation. Geoff regularly represents clients in arbitrations and mediations, and has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario.

Geoff is an active member of the Advocates' Society, where he serves on the Young Advocates' Standing Committee, and is also involved in the Defense Research Institute, where he will serve as Co-Vice Chair of Social Media on the Young Lawyers Steering Committee in 2011-2012. Geoff also volunteers as Duty Counsel for Pro Bono Law Ontario in Toronto, and serves as Canvasser Coordinator for the firm's United Way committee.

Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Geoff completed his law degree at the University of Toronto, where he was awarded the Genest Murray prize in Evidence. During his articles, he was also seconded to Ontario Power Generation's Law Division. Representative Transactions

  • Intellibox Concept Inc. v. Intermec Technologies (2011) ONSC 4264 – successfully moved for summary judgment dismissing $60 million claim on behalf of supply chain technology manufacturer.
  • Harris v. GlaxoSmithKline Inc. [2010] O.J. No. 1710 (Ont. S.C.J.), affirmed [2010] O.J. No. 5546 (Ont. C.A.) - dismissal of a $300 million class action on behalf of major pharmaceutical company.
  • 1318214 Ontario Ltd. v. Sobeys Capital Inc. (2010), 72 B.L.R. (4 th ) 110 (Ont. S.C.J.) – acted for franchisor in injunction motion brought by franchisees.
  • Hamburg Honda v. Honda Canada Inc. [2009] O.J. No. 5152 (Ont. S.C.J.) - successfully defended major automobile manufacturer against dealer injunction.
  • Animal House Investments Inc. v. Lisgar Development Ltd. [2008] O.J. No. 2240 (Ont. Div. Ct.) - successfully defended appeal in a shareholder dispute.
  • Lincoln General Insurance Co. v. Insurance Corp. of British Columbia [2008] O.J. No. 2318 (Ont. C.A.) - successfully quashed an appeal of an arbitration award.
