Professional Experience
Jeff has more than 20 years experience and has expanded upon his practical legal experience in the oil and gas industry to build an extensive legal practice that includes all aspects of energy law. Jeff undertakes a wide variety of matters, including:
- negotiating and closing petroleum, natural gas and other energy-related asset purchase and sale transactions
- creating and documenting corporate, joint venture and partnership structures for the financing, development and exploitation of oil and gas assets
- drafting and negotiating construction, ownership and operation agreements and gas processing and transportation agreements for a variety of energy facilities
- negotiating and documenting resource based and non-resource based financing transactions
- structuring long-term and short-term physical sales of natural gas and natural gas liquids
- negotiating end-user gas supply contracts with a variety of end-users, including co-generation facilities, local distribution companies and commercial end-users negotiating, structuring and documenting transactions related to the establishment of natural gas and natural gas liquids midstream gathering, processing, transportation and storage facilities
- interpreting and resolving a wide variety of operational issues arising between operators and co-owners of energy assets
- analysis and advice on a wide variety of issues facing energy companies, including freehold lease issues, gross royalty trust issues, land agreement issues and joint venture agreement issues
Jeff's clients include private and public energy companies of all sizes - junior, intermediate and senior - as well as land companies, energy trusts and energy marketing companies.
Jeff has also spent some time working in-house with Novagas Clearinghouse Ltd., where he developed practical business experience in all aspects of the energy commodity marketing and oil and gas midstream asset business.
