Professional Experience Michael is chair of the firm's Commercial Real Estate section. Although he has wide experience in many facets of commercial law, his main practice relates to the acquisition, development and management of real property and in the structuring of vehicles appropriate to such activities. He taught for several years on a part-time basis at McGill University Faculty of Law, and for many years was lecturer in real estate at the Québec Real Estate Association. He has lectured and written on various important aspects of real property including an article in the 1977 Meredith Lectures entitled "Joint Venture and Undivided Co-Ownerships, a Québec Perspective". He has spoken at various conferences, most lately before the Québec Real Estate Section of the Canadian Bar Association where he delivered a paper on Pre-payment Rights Under Hypothecary Loans and the impact of Section 10 of the Interest Act (Canada). He was a lecturer in the obligatory law program offered to members of the Quebec Bar upon the reform of the Civil Code in 1994. He is the former president of Lord Reading Law Society and a former Counselor of the Bar of Montréal. He was named by the Financial Post (Legal Post) on May 30, 2007 as one of the "Best Lawyers" in Canada in Real Estate Law and listed in The Best Lawyers in Canada 2012 as a leader in Real Estate Law.
