Professional Activities

Ruba El-Sayegh joined the firm as an associate in 2007. As a member of the Commercial and Civil Litigation Group, Ruba represents clients in a variety of contract, negligence, administrative, insurance, personal injury, environmental, employment, and construction disputes. As part of her litigation practice, Ruba has attended various court levels including the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Divisional Court, Small Claims Court and other Administrative Tribunals.

In her Immigration practice, Ruba has a strong working knowledge of immigration law and related human resources issues. She provides business and individual clients with advice on business visitor exemptions, exempt employment categories, HRSDC labour market opinions, temporary work permits, work transfers under NAFTA, and permanent residence and sponsorship applications. Ruba's advocacy/litigation skills allow her to prepare highly persuasive and professional applications for her clients.

Ruba has also spearheaded the firm's Embassy law practice, serving as general counsel to a number of foreign missions, foreign Ambassadors and diplomats to Canada and consular offices. As part of her Embassy law practice, Ruba provides advice on Canadian laws and regulations as well as advice pertaining to the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations and dealings with the Office of Protocol of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
