Teresa Dufort is a partner in McMillan's Litigation Group, Co-Leader of the firm's Product Liability Defence and Regulatory Group and active in the Class Action Group. She also serves as the firm's Chief Executive Officer.

Teresa's practice is heavily focused on product liability defence and products related regulatory issues. She acts as the prime Canadian counsel to numerous Canadian, American, European and Asian manufacturers and distributors of consumer and industrial products. She has extensive experience defending class actions and both individual and commercial product liability lawsuits involving a broad range of products including motor vehicles, fire and security products, medical devices, consumer products, recreational products, construction and industrial machinery, building materials and swimming pools. Teresa has significant expertise managing "same product" litigation across Canada including the defence of standards development and certification bodies in pattern litigation.

On the regulatory side, Teresa has extensive experience providing advice, and advocating on behalf of companies and trade associations, in relation to regulatory issues involving Health Canada, Transport Canada, Environment Canada (vehicle emissions) and Ontario's Electrical Safety Authority. She is Canadian regulatory counsel to numerous companies. She has handled regulatory reporting and recalls for a wide range of products and worked extensively on global recall teams with US and European counsel. Her expertise extends to motor vehicles, tires, child restraints, clothing, toys and other juvenile products, recreational vehicles, electrical appliances, power and outdoor equipment and numerous other consumer products.
