montréal office

We consider recruitment to be one of our top priorities because our law students become our future associates and partners. When we invite you to join us as a summer or articling student, we don't just look to the immediate future, we focus on your entire career with us.

the articling program

We offer two possible articling periods of six months each, one starting in January, the other in June. Once hired, we also offer our students the opportunity to work during the summer preceding their articles.

We do not have a formal rotation system in Montréal. Rather, during your summer and articling experience, we provide you with exposure to the areas of business law we practice, including corporate commercial, banking and finance, litigation, real estate, restructuring, and tax. By working on a broad range of matters, you will acquire the experience necessary to help you discover early on what particular areas you want to focus on for future specialization. If you develop a particular interest in one of our areas, we invite you to let us know. We will do our best to accommodate your preference.

what do we look for?

We look for students who are perceptive, diligent, motivated to succeed and whose level of academic achievement demonstrates the potential to provide the highest quality legal service. We also look for well-rounded, creative, and mature individuals who can make a positive contribution to our work environment and the profession in general. While academic achievement is important, we place a great deal of emphasis on interviews because they permit us to assess interpersonal skills so critical to success in our client service-focused firm.

our hiring practice and processes

We conduct our practices and process according to the Montréal law firms' Recruitment Agreement. We participate in the general recruitment period held in the spring and offer our future articling students the possibility to work at the firm the summer preceding their articles.

In most cases, your school's Career Development Office will collect application packages and courier them to firms in advance of the application deadline. We advise students to confirm their school's internal practice and deadlines at the beginning of January.

your application

Please note that we will be looking to hire articling students for the 2013 and 2014 terms during the next recruitment period.

An application package should consist of a cover letter, resume, copies of official law school and post-secondary transcripts, and 2nd and 3rd year course lists. Letters of reference are not required. We will acknowledged receipt of your application by email.

Please send your application through the VILawPortal.
