McMillan is pleased to congratulate one of its clients, Tennenbaum Capital Partners, for its Turnaround of the Year award win. Tennenbaum Capital Partners won in the Large Company category at the Turnaround Management Association’s (TMA) 2016 Turnaround and Transaction of the Year Awards.

Tennenbaum Capital Partners formed part of a consortium of investors that successfully acquired Wind Mobile for an estimated CA $300 million in September 2014. Over the course of 12-months, the collective worked closely with management to turn the company into a strategically valuable asset by: growing subscribers by 25 percent, increasing revenue 22 percent year over year, parting with debt of  $1.8 billion, raising $425 million of new vendor financing from global financial institutions and acquiring spectrum by participating in the government’s spectrum auctions to enable it to deploy an LTE network.

Tennenbaum Capital Partners  is a leading alternative investment management firm that was founded in 1999. It has a proven track record of investing in both performing credit and special situations. Since 1999 the firm has invested in excess of $16.5 billion in more than 450 portfolios.

The Turnaround of the Year Award recognizes the individuals who establish effective operations, implement solid management, improve cash flow, and increase production, in addition to the other operational factors leading to recovery of a struggling business. Since 1993, TMA has honored excellence through its annual awards program, which recognizes the most successful turnarounds and impactful transactions. This year’s winners saved countless jobs and made a significant economic impact, both locally and globally.
