Fabienne Benoit is a counsel with the Commercial Real Estate practice group in the firm’s Montréal office. Her practice focuses on a diversity of real estate transactions, particularly related to financing and sales and acquisitions.
Fabienne gained extensive experience in commercial real estate. In addition to acting as vice-president business development, she also served as Québec vice-president, in commercial underwriting for leading Canadian and American title insurance companies. As underwriter, she was responsible for the assessment of legal risks related to asset acquisitions or share purchase transactions, as well as the financing of such transactions. She put in place the appropriate coverage while, inter alia, maintaining continuity of operations, overseeing her department, and ensuring that the appropriate rules regarding Québec’s civil law were followed. Fabienne also delivered training to Québec lawyers, lenders and owners.
For nearly 15 years before acting as a manager and underwriter in the title insurance sector, Fabienne practised commercial real estate law with an emphasis on financing and transactional matters. She also wrote opinions on complex title issues relating to various types of properties.
A member of the Québec bar, Fabienne holds a postgraduate degree in notarial law and a bachelor of laws from the University of Montréal. With diversified expertise and in-depth knowledge of the commercial real estate sector, Fabienne provides our clients with sound legal advice.
