Margaret McNee, a partner in the Toronto office of McMillan LLP, gave some tips about finding a first legal job in an article titled
First Jobs: Leave yourself room for change, Margaret McNee says in the February 2, 2012 edition of the
National Post.
"At Osgoode Hall they had an articling office with information on all the firms. I used that and went to about a dozen firms. The principal thing I was looking for was a strong articling program that allowed for a rotation through the departments. At the time I was fixed on being a litigator. I ended up at a firm (McMillan Binch LLP, predecessor of the current firm) with the scope to allow me to make changes, and I went in a different direction so that now I am a securities practitioner."
