Marie is Counsel in the firm's Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group. Her practice focuses on the defence of warranty, product liability, and contract claims for the firm's key clients. Marie represents and advises clients in the manufacturing, distribution, retail, and insurance industries, on products ranging from automobiles and automotive accessories and parts, to plumbing parts, fire suppression systems, and various consumer goods. Marie’s practice extends to product inspections, working with accident reconstruction and design experts, defending company witnesses at discovery, and the assessment of personal injury and property damage.  

Marie joined McMillan in 2019 with eight years of Insurance Defence experience in the areas of product liability, occupier's liability, professional negligence, motor vehicle accidents and statutory accident benefits. She has assisted on several lengthy and complex trials before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and has appeared in a host of Small Claims Court proceedings from settlement conferences to conducting trials. Marie has also conducted hearings before various administrative tribunals such as the License Appeal Tribunal, ADR Chambers, and the Financial Services Commission of Ontario. Marie appears regularly before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and represents clients in all aspects of litigation including engaging in alternative dispute resolution.  

In addition to her practice, Marie is a committed contributor to the legal industry. She has published with numerous organizations such as the Advocates’ Society, the Ontario Bar Association, the Canadian Defence Lawyers Association, and the American Bar Association. She is also a volunteer with several organizations including a member of the WICC Breakfast Committee and a Speaker and Mentor with The Advocacy Club. In 2018, she was appointed by the Advocates' Society as the Vice-Chair of the Personal Injury & Insurance Practice Group for the 2018-2019 term and will ascend to the Chair role for the 2019-2020 term.
