McMillan LLP Welcomes Patrick Groom

We are pleased to announce that Patrick Groom has joined the firm in the Labour and Employment Group in our Toronto office.

Patrick received his J.D. from the University of Western Ontario and was called to the Ontario bar in 2007. He began his career at the leading Union-side firm of Cavalluzo Hayes Shilton McIntyre & Cornish (now wisely renamed as Cavalluzo LLP), where he articled and practiced as an Associate until 2015. Seeking a change, Patrick joined Sherrard Kuzz where he practiced Management-side labour and employment law for the past 2.5 years.

Patrick is a Certified Specialist in Labour Law by the Law Society (one of only 22 in Ontario) and brings more than 20 years of labour relations experience in a wide variety of sectors, with particular expertise in construction labour relations. Notwithstanding his labour expertise, Patrick regularly provides advice to non-union employers on all aspects of the employment relationship and will be working with both union and non-union clients.

Patrick also has expertise in OHSA and WSIB matters and will be available to our clients to provide assistance on any workplace injury and accidents, as well as rapid response for workplace investigations.
